How can I reduce noise from neighbouring properties?

Install acoustic insulation in walls, ceilings, and floors. Adding soundproofing materials like dense plasterboard or acoustic panels can significantly reduce transmission.

What windows are best for noise reduction?

Use double or triple-glazed windows with acoustic-rated glass. Ensure window seals are tight and consider secondary glazing if replacements aren't possible.

Can soft furnishings help reduce noise?

Yes, carpets, curtains, and upholstered furniture absorb sound and can reduce internal noise levels effectively, especially in open-plan layouts.

What should I do about noisy plumbing or equipment?

Secure loose pipes and service noisy equipment like extractor fans or boilers. Use vibration dampeners where necessary to minimise sound.

How do I address external noise sources like traffic?

Use external barriers like fencing, planting hedges, or building buffer zones. Inside, rely on insulation and airtight windows to block noise entry.
